The “World’s Toughest Fire Fighter” Joachim Ponsanz from Germany

At Martin Place Monday 27^th February 11.30am – 3.00pm

Martin Place, one the of the busiest thoroughfares in Sydney will be transformed into a healthy, active, fitness zone.

The event will highlight Daniel Geale who is a Spartan & World Fire Fighter Games Ambassador. Daniel has a mandatory Title Defence on March 7^th in Hobart against the No 1 Contender, Osumanu Adama.

Daniel will have his Press Conference around 12.20pm and will then launch into, a 30 min exhibition training session.

Joachim Posanz will also be present and available for press interviews. To showcase and activate both brands, Daniel and Joachim will be running up Pitt Street with a Fire Truck and Police escort.  The event will proceed, rain, hail or shine and is covered by a 15m x 15m marquee.

Fitness activities will be performed by Daniel and his team as well as Joachim and key fire fighters. Spartan will be donating products to help raise funds for the Children’s Burns Unit at Westmead Hospital.  Further awareness will be created with the inclusion of the” Bandage Bear” and the Fuel TV ‘Smokin Hotties’ are PR hostesses.

There is a VIP area directly in front of the boxing ring, this area will be catered for with light refreshments and beverages. Celebrities present include: the West Tigers NRL team, Benji Marshall, George Gregan, Mark Bosnich, legendary trainer Johnny Lewis and a host of other sporting and corporate celebrities. Key Fire Brigade personnel will also lend their support. The event will conclude at approx 2.30-3.00pm.

After the retirement of Adam Gilchrist, in April 2008 Clarke was named vice-captain of the Australian side he scored a century in the second Test in Antigua, going on to captain the side in the final two One Day Internationals, both of which were won.

In October 2009, Clarke was named as captain of Australia’s Twenty20 side & he went on to win the Australian Man of the Series in the 2009 Ashes Series.

In January 2011, Clarke was named as stand-in captain for the fifth Test of the 2010-11 Ashes Series.

In January 2012, after a string of test centuries since becoming captain, Clarke became the first Australian batsman since Matthew Hayden in 2003 to score a triple hundred. He joined with Ricky Ponting (134) in a partnership of 288, then added 334 with Michael Hussey (150*) before declaring on 329*. This match against India was the 100th test to be played at the SCG, and Clarke’s score was both the highest ever made in an Australia-India test and the highest ever achieved at the ground.

His ability to be a leader and consistently put runs on the board has made him a perfect candidate to join the Spartan Ambassador team.

Michael Clarke was awarded the ‘’Allan Border Medal’’ in 2005 and 2009.
He became the first Australian batsman in history to score a century on both home and away debuts.
Clarke was the Man of the Series in the 2009 Ashes.
He was ICC’s ‘’Test Player of the Year’’ in 2009.
Clarkey was also named amongst the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2010.

After leaving his previous sponsor earlier this year, Michael has been in talks with Spartan to become his new bat sponsor.

Michael will be using his newly designed bat in the upcoming 4th Test Match in Adelaide against India.

The new Spartan 329 range of bats will be in stores very shortly and a new fitness and training range of gear will be out soon under the new MC range.
